How to Prepare a File for CNC Cutting

File Types

Already have a production-ready file? Upload it with your CNC cutting Los Angeles quote request and we will review it for production.

Our preferred CNC file formats are:

  • .3dm

  • .step

  • .stp

  • .obj

  • .stl

  • .dxf

We do not accept SketchUp files. SketchUp projects must be exported or converted into one of our preferred file formats before they can be reviewed for production.

Files should clearly identify the finished dimensions, material type, material thickness, quantities and required cutting operations. Please also include any relevant reference images, assembly information or notes that will help us understand the project.

If your design needs adjustments or additional file preparation before CNC cutting, we can help identify what is required to make it production-ready.

You do not need to be a CNC expert. We will let you know what is needed to move your project forward.
